🍃 RESILIENCE 🍃: What nature teaches us

This climbing ivy is frequently seen covering the exteriors of buildings. Have you ever stopped to really look at HOW it does that? It sends out little “feet” that have a round base that sticks to the side of the building. It climbs to the top and grows and expands literally one foot in front of the other!

This ivy is not tended. No one is spraying the side of the building with water. It has found a way to nourish itself. It cares for itself by storing up energy as needed so it can survive frost and the winter cold, and yet continue to bloom, produce and thrive during the other seasons.

What lessons in RESILIENCE do we take from this wise and tenacious plant?

~ Even in your darkest places, the Winter of your soul, you too can find ways to store up your energy so that you can expand and grow when the time is right for you. YOU have the capacity within yourself to heal from grief and transform that into joy. You are fully capable!

* Learn to REALLY nourish yourself with self-care in a SUSTAINABLE way. *

~ Anchoring your feet to the ground, trusting in the solidity of the earth and trusting in YOURSELF, place one foot in front of the other. One foot in front of the other, step by step, is how you will start to transform your grief. In this way, you will make it to the top of the building and beyond! * Learn an easy way to GROUND yourself on a daily basis. *

~ As this ivy grows and moves, parts of it may die off, fall off or be cleared away. There is a mark left from the little “feet”...a reminder that it had been there. You too, will shed parts of yourself among your journey. These ‘old’ parts of yourself have helped create the incredible person that you are today and the person that you are becoming.

* Take a moment to thank yourself for your life’s trials, tribulations and even grief. Honor it. You are forever changed by it. *

~ Pull yourself into the present moment. If you are thinking about the past or the future you are creating anxiety for yourself. Be present in the here-and-now, and marvel at all of the ways big and small, in which nature presents us with learning opportunities.

With infinite amounts of love for all of you,  ❤️ Cara
